Demonstration tubes in Power Plant 5 of Kievenergo
Four tubes were inserted in four boilers of two power plants. At the end of the project they were removed and inspected for corrosion and possible creep damage.

Pressurized combined oxidation and corrosion tests
Steam inside the tube, flue gas and ash deposit at the outside. Temperature 612 to 671°C. The steamside oxide layer remains very thin, whereas the corrosion layer on the flue gas side is rather thick. At 671°C the penetration of sulfur leads to an inacceptable corrosion behavior. Nevertheless the oxidation and corrosion properties are better than those of 9%Cr steels.
